So many artists have had their following given to them because they struck it big and landed themselves a deal with a record label only to find years later, the support they thought they had because of social media stats doesn’t matter when it counts the most.

A once recommended strategy may now be mandatory. It’s a formula observed at length by Michael Masnick, demonstrated by Trent Reznor and Prince (two heroes of the “Undustry“), and recently deployed by Tinashe.

Artists need to CwF and give them RtB.

Do artists intend to use ‘follows’ only to show how popular and wanted they are? (this could probably speak to something else). Or, do they make it a point to genuinely Connect with Fans? Do artists expect their next release to crash the servers just because they made it? Or, do they give their audience a legitimate Reason to Buy ANYTHING WHATSOEVER?!
